The purpose of the Racial Diversity Task Force is to:
- research the efforts within the UU movement and in other faiths aimed at creating multiracial congregations,
- build coalitions with others organizations working toward the same goal of racial unity, and
- organize events such as workshops, discussion forums, films and potlucks that facilitate grassroots human connections across the color lines.
Our faith demands that we build bridges and break down walls. Our citizenship requires that we work for a society without artificial boundaries.
How can you help?
The task force needs people who are compulsive seekers of common ground. Are you one of those?
If you are or if you have a soft spot in your heart for racial unity and reconciliation, please contact the coordinators of the task force (

The Racial Diversity Task Force is organizing an Interfaith Solidarity Service at First UU on Saturday, Sep 11th at 2 pm. The purpose of the event is to commemorate 9/11 as well as express solidarity with our Muslim sisters and brothers who have been targetd by hate campaigns, including calls to burn the Qur'an on 9/11. We want to send a strong interfaith message to our community that we stand for religious tolerance. More details are in the attached flier. Rev. Mark Belletini will be leading the service. We hope to have participation from Muslim, Jewish, Christian, UU, and other clergy and lay people. Your presence would be an excellent public witness of your faith in religious tolerance and pluralism. Please bring a food item or a beverage to share for the reception to follow, if you are able. Please attend the service to bear public witness to our faith and stand up for pluralism. If you have a "Standing on the Side of Love" T-shirt, please wear it. Also, invite friends of other faiths to this interfaith expression of our common beliefs.
