In May 2007, the The results of the Welcoming Inventory are now available in the Welcoming Inventory Report and associated spreadsheet.
A key element of the First UU Welcoming Initiative, the Welcoming Inventory looked at all aspects of our church- its facilities, services, programming and communication. It was a "cross ministry" effort involving the Board, ministers, and all councils and committees, with added emphasis on Building & Grounds, Worship, Membership, Social, Religious Education and Social Justice.
Input was collected via written reports from key committees as well as meetings with Ministers, committee chairs, and other church leadership as well as input from individuals and other miscellaneous sources.
The Board Team assigned to the Welcoming Inventory took a first pass at making recommendations of "priority" of suggestions for this report.
Feedback from members (and more importantly, visitors) reveals that their experience at First UU is generally good. Input to the Welcoming Inventory was extensive and varied, but many important themes were identified:
Some of the suggestions in the detailed report already are done, in progress, or planned. Many more of the suggestions can and should be "chartered" for this year. Some have a larger scope and will require work in incremental steps.
The Board has reviewed the report and its recommended priorities, and has approved the execution of as many as possible, tracking progress at the end of the fiscal year, then continuing the charter in subsequent Fiscal years.
