jstephens_100Director of Religious Education - Jolinda Stephens arrived at First UU in July 2008, having most recently served the UU Church of the Monterey Peninsula in California.  Jolinda brings her skills and eight years of experience in managing and nurturing Sunday School programs and adult faith development to First UU’s ever-growing programs. She is committed to continuing her own religious education. With a masters in Instructional Systems and the completion of the required coursework at Starr King School for the Ministry, she has the post graduate classes required for the UU Master Level Religious Educator credentialing process.  Our church committee which oversaw Jolinda’s hiring admired her “passion, intelligence, and ability to observe, listen, and ask the right questions.”

Debra McGuire is our RE Assistant and also staff secretary. Deb has her MA in Counseling and has practiced family counseling. She is also an experienced Sunday School teacher and AYS (OWL, back in the day) facilitator. Her hours are Tues and Wed mornings.

 
Religous Education Council PDF Print E-mail

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION COUNCIL is the umbrella organization that oversees all “RE” activities at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbus. Both epresentatives from the individual religious education committees and components and at-large representatives form the Council. Together they consider the big, overall picture of Lifespan Religous Education First UUCC and advise the Directopr of Religious Education on policy and procedure.

  • Sunday School Committee - assists the Director of Religious Education with coordinating groups and recruiting, orienting and rewarding volunteers.
  • Adult Enrichment Program (AEP) Committee - supports AEP programming through developing classes and events and helping the DRE administer the programs.
  • Youth Adult Steering Committee - an advocate for youth interests within the congregation. It plans youth events and decides on representation to congregational decisionmaking bodies and events.
